Our Reverse Campaign Donation

Every candidate promises big change. Every candidate promises they are different than the other candidates. Yet, across the board, more money and energy goes into two weeks of flyers, debates, and banner holding than the entire following year in office. In fact, the average SBP and Yell Leader candidate will spend $620 on t-shirts alone! (Yes, we really did the math).

Much like how half of all “Super Bowl Champion” shirts are worthless after the big game, most of these “Vote for ______” shirts are only relevant for a couple of weeks.

The Mugdown is not your average candidate. We are pledging to put in our relatively meager $200 t-shirt budget into a more permanent and worthy cause: donating to Twin City Mission, a non-profit that provides shelter, meals, clothing, household items and more to those in need, right here in Brazos Valley.

An anonymous donor has agreed to match our donation along with any donations by you dollar-for-dollar. We invite you to join us and help is meet our goal of $620 to put the focus less on temporary t-shirts and stickers and instead on the Bryan/College Station community— something that will make a positive difference even after we lose (or win).

We believe our goal is attainable with your help. If your answer to the question, “Would I buy a Mugdown t-shirt?” is yes, consider donating that t-shirt fund to an even better cause.

UPDATE: We have surpassed our goal of $620—the average candidate’s T-shirt budget—and we are proud to announce a final donation of $800 to support the work that Twin City Mission does in our community.
